Fred Waiss was born and raised in Colorado but he and his wife have been living in Wisconsin for the last fifteen years and do not get back out west nearly often enough.
They’ve been married for thirty-six years and all three of their kids have kids. Fred used to teach high school English and physical education, and coach football, track, and girls’ basketball. But teaching high school English is almost as high stress as air traffic control, so he’s been doing grunt work for a long time, and still does the “no homework!” celebration sometimes when he clocks out. He also exercises thirty to sixty minutes four or five days a week to counter the effects of chocoholism.
He’s been writing since the ‘60’s, but only recently has he turned his energies to getting published.
He has two mainstream novels waiting on an agent or publisher plus a sword and sorcery novel being rewritten, and several short stories, most in the speculative fiction genre.
He insists that, though he’s done little of lasting significance (not counting raising three healthy contributors to society), he’s barely started his seventh decade, and so has almost thirty years to correct that situation.
